Use blue light therapy for psoriasis
If you suffer from mild to medium psoriasis, it may be possible to alleviate the disease with blue light therapy.
Many studies show that a large proportion of patients experience a reduction in their psoriasis outbreaks when using blue light therapy.
What is blue light therapy
Blue light therapy is treatment with light in wavelengths around 450nm. Blue light therapy, as it is also called, is completely harmless and can be used at home. The light waves contain no harmful UV rays.
The blue light is disinfectant and anti-inflammatory on the skin, and is used for many types of skin conditions, such as acne, psoriasis, etc.

What is psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disease where the immune system is overactive in the epidermis, creating an inflammatory-like condition and can lead to rashes on large parts of the skin.
The disease varies considerably from person to person with regard to:
- Where on the skin the rash occurs
- What the spots look like
- How often outbreaks occur
- How long each outbreak lasts
Typically, the rash appears as well-defined pink to greyish areas, covered with white, adherent scales. This skin change is also called psoriasis plaque (pronounced “plaque”). Psoriasis often occurs symmetrically on the body, e.g. on both elbows.
The rash can cover large areas of skin, but there may also be smaller, coin-sized or small, drop-shaped spots. For most, the itching is mild, but 10-20% experience intense itching. Cold and dry air can often worsen the disease.
The intensity of the disease can vary, and symptoms may occur that last from weeks to years, but the risk of new outbreaks is present throughout life.
